No, however, you must complete the discovery consultations (color and style) before we can dive deeper into curating your wardrobe. This is because we need to understand your best and worst colors and silhouettes in addition to your preferences and lifestyle before we can offer you sound wardrobe advice. Once we develop your individual color and style profile, we can efficiently and easily guide you through image curation because we know and understand YOU. Style begins with understanding yourself inside and out!
Color has been scientifically proven to affect our emotions and mood. Color has the power to change the energy of a room. Artists must study and learn color science and harmony as a basic premise to design work. Marketers have long known that color has the power to subconsciously affect buyer perceptions and influence behavior. Why wouldn’t those same principals hold true in our wardrobe?
Style could more accurately be described as the intersection of balance, proportion, preference and practicality. As Coco Chanel famously said, “ Fashion is architecture: its a matter of proportions.“ Harnessing the power of proper proportions is also harnessing the power of perception.
Yes and No. Seasonal color analysis takes into account temperature (cool or warm) and value (light or dark) and has 4 possible outcomes or “seasons”. There are many types of color analysis systems and we use the 12 Tone Color System which we feel is more accurate since it also contemplates the third characteristic of color, chroma (saturated or muted) and helps narrow your season further by its tonal qualities and therefore has 12 outcome possibilities.
Never! We offer our recommendations but you are always encouraged to express yourself authentically. We can tell you what colors might make you look less than your best, however we can also show you ways to wear those colors that will minimize their impact. For some, transitioning toward your best colors is a process and for others it is done in one fell swoop.
Whatever you’d like! We will cover your clothing with a neutral smock during your color analysis so that we can see the impact of the colored drapes on your face and hair. We do encourage you to wear light makeup on the day of your color consult and may ask you to remove any lip color you might be wearing.
We do ask that you wear clothing that fits well enough that we can see your body proportions but we will never ask you to change into a leotard or require you to wear spandex! We typically take 2-3 quick measurements that are lateral and not circumference for style analysis consultations (we are looking for proportion comparisons, not sizing). The only reason we might need circumference measurements would be if you are planning for digital or in-home personal shopping where you will not be present for fitting. You may also provide your measurements if you prefer not to be measured by us.
Once you’ve completed your Discovery Consultations, we are happy to work together to build a customized Personal Image Curation Plan and offer 15% off services booked as part of this plan.
